For Agencies
Threads relies on community agencies and service providers to connect children in need with Threads services.
“When a need was identified, help came the very next day! Threads is a wonderful resource for our community to help those in need get the basics. I am so proud of community volunteers making this happen for those in need.”
Becky, local agency representative
When you submit a Child Referral Form, info is sent directly to Threads so we can begin working with the family and meeting the needs of each child. Include as much detail as possible on the form – child age, sizes, types of items needed, preferences, etc.
“I have used Threads to support families in need through Early On, and school-based children. When a family moved to the area after losing their home, Threads helped get the family what they needed.
“Threads has been a non-judgement help to families in crisis. Threads is an amazing service for our communities.”
Nicole, COOR ISD
Child Referral Options
There are two ways that children can receive help from Threads, and you select which option works best on the Child Referral Form.
Option 1: Family Shop
- A Threads volunteer will contact the family directly.
- The family will make an appointment to come and shop for items for their child(ren).
- Parents/guardians can choose to shop for their children, or bring kids with them to their shopping appointment.
Option 2: Threads Shop
- A Threads volunteer will select items for the children with the detailed info you provide on the Child Referral Form.
- Threads will contact you when items are ready, and make arrangements for the agency to pick up items. If Threads volunteers are available, Threads may be able to drop off to your agency office or meet you at a designated location. You can then work with the family to get items to them.
- This is the best option if a parent/caregiver does not have transportation, has trouble making and keeping appointments, or the needs are urgent.
BEFORE submitting a Child Referral Form:
- Tell the parent/guardian that you are sharing their contact information with Threads, and that they will be hearing from Threads with questions and/or to schedule an appointment.
- Make sure child(ren) are eligible:
- Currently ages 0-18
- Live in Roscommon or Crawford county
AFTER submitting a Child Referral Form:
- You will receive a copy of the form via email for your records.
- Threads will contact you with any updates when the family has been contacted and/or made an appointment.
